Epilogue

In the words of Mirza Ghalib, such is the condition of Pakistan—Karachi included:

O Lord, even the tongues of thorns have withered from thirst,
Yet a blister-footed wanderer still enters this valley of pain.

And the state of those who yearn for change, reform, and revolution, again in Ghalib’s voice, is this:

My feet once trembled at these bleeding blisters,
Yet my heart rejoiced to see the road so thick with thorns.

There is unwavering faith that, before long, people of lofty courage and unbroken resolve will join this journey—

for, as Bashir Ahmed Shad so beautifully says:

We were shaken at the sight of a thorn-strewn way,
But courage returned on seeing the leader of the caravan.
